In simpler terms, aquaponics is where you keep fish in a large tub or pond, with cultivating plants that use the water the fish are in to grow and absorb nutrients. It works as a production system that combines aquaculture and hydroponics together. This is PetSmart’s flagship brand and there is literally no food in this.A post shared by Sue Rowe may be unfamiliar with the term ‘goldfish aquaponics.’ Goldfish aquaponics are the creation of a symbiotic environment between goldfish and the plants they fertilize. Just “protein”. Buncha fillers and artificial colors. Tropical USA Super Goldfish Mini Sticks.Essentials Goldfish Flakes (Pet Valu brand). You are welcome to read up on the situation and come to your own potentially different conclusion, that’s fine. But as Northfin denied the presence of it in their krill, only to be contradicted by independent lab testing, I currently do not feel comfortable using this particular food from their line which may contain it at higher levels. It turns out that the preservative is used by the krill fishing industry which supplies much of the US and Canada and enters the supply chain before it gets to Northfin, so may be unavoidable in any American krill based fish food. An issue involving Northfin and the use of a particular controversial preservative (ethoxyquin) was recently brought to my attention.Saki is the only one I’d even touch now tbh, and still it’s not all that awesome. A pretty good recipe for swim bladder issues in a fancy. Hikari Lionhead/Gold/Oranda Gold/Excel - Hikari foods have gone to shit in the last couple years, all full of fillers and poor quality meals.Feeding these long term is not going to be healthy for your fishies. These are good staple foods with high quality ingredients and balanced nutrition. I have them all nicely color coded in a notebook but as I can’t do that here, I’ll just list them in sections instead. Well I did this? A couple months back I legit looked up the ingredients to every single commercial goldfish food I could find and ranked them roughly by quality, for easy reference when people on my forum mentioned them.
